What some people may not know about Sean Astin ("The Goonies", "Rudy", "Lord of the Rings Trilogy") is that he majored with honors in History at UCLA. Sean is very passionate about history, yet he had never heard of the Sultana disaster.
Just recently, after learning about this little-known event that happened just after the end of the Civil War, he was excited to hear about a documentary on the Sultana currently in the planning stages as well as a Kickstarter campaign designed to raise financing for completion of the video.
